Confirmed with BES admin - no restrictions as previous device Curve worked fine with the same vendor.

[Edit]
Another thought...it seems as after I reinstalled iSM firewall didn't prompt me to allow traffic through. As I recall on previous version of the OS number of notifications came up, before letting me continue.

How do I re initiate the iSM for the same prompts?

Second options would be to reinstall OS, as there's a "leaked" version .536

iSM never had a request to enable the firewall, those requests are done by the OS.
What you may have seen is request for application permissions which they may not appear now if you have the permissions set to "prompt" or to "allow".

If you were getting firewall permission prompts before you might want to try to uninstall iSM and only then reinstall again (do not reinstall over the current version). This might trigger the firewall prompt again.

Reinstalled it, but no dice. I'll update the OS and see where we end up.

Updated OS to 5.0.0.536
WiFi - works like a charm, retrieving quotes, navigating to news, Level II, etc., but over carriers network it won't work. At least we are narrowing down :)

You've checked your APN settings right? Sometimes they reset when you update the OS.

I just updated APN, but that didn't fix the problem (emailed logs from today). This experience leads to believe that it might be a carriers issue as updating OS didn't make a difference and here's why.

Everything works beautify over WiFi, and I'm using AT&T on my broadband, which means that iSM as an application works and access permissions are set correctly. I don't know if T-Mobile started filtering traffic...which could explain why i'm having difficulties and works on/off, mainly it doesn't.

... I'm running out ideas... iSM is my favorite app and I'm not giving up!

You might want to try to call T-Mobile and ask them what you should set as the APN settings for your phone. They might have other settings for your account.

Thank you kindly for the support and prompt response I was given. I'll give T-mobile a call and work with them on this issue.

An update [this call took 3hrs out of my life...]

Called T-Mobile tech support, but couldn't get them to do anything logical, even Tier3 (Manager) was out of the loop, kept telling me "3rd party software is not supported".

However, they managed to transfer me to Blackberry Tech Support, case ID: 8915531. We end up resetting IT policy using command line: c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe /resettofactory, this had no effect on iSM application, meaning it still operates on/off.

Blackberry Tech was able to replicate the problem on his BB9700 device, by installing iSM and using "delayed quotes option" as he didn't have the TDAmeritrade account, he however couldn't even connect via WiFi. Tech was based out of Canada and was using a completely different provider(s) [WiFi and 3G]. He suggested to folks at iSM to talk to Blackberry development support and have this analyzed further. You may reference my case ID: 8915531.

I hope this gets us closer to the resolution...

Edit: prior to my call update OS to another "leaked" version .545, just thinking maybe this could help.
